We took Pookers swimming for the first time at the Westminster Rec Center on Saturday, November 29. She loved it! If she is going to be a successful river rat like mom and dad, she'll need lots of practice in the water. We'll save the dunking and slide for next time. Thanks to Aunt Di and Uncle George for the swimsuit (amazingly enough, the 18 mos. size fit decently!)

Gobble Gobble Gobble!
We celebrated Thanksgiving at Mom and Tom's in Loveland along with the Davis', Jeff and Courtney and Coreen. Maryn tried her first turkey and "triptophaned" big time!
A Visit to the Butterfly Pavilion
Maryn's first visit to the Butterfly Pavilion proved to be exciting both for her and mom. It was very enlightening watching her observe her new surroundings; she was awed by the consistant magical fluttering that surrounded us.
Grandma Mary Visits
Mary spent a wonderful long weekend with us, enjoying the endless entertainment of Maryn. While visiting, Maryn learned how to "shimmy" (her signature dance move) as well as click in unison with Grandma. What fun!

We Survived the Denver Marathon!
Kristin and I ran the 1/2 marathon at the Denver Marathon on Sunday, October 19. I was so thankful that Kristin supported me in this crazy adventure. Neither one of us had run a half before. We thought we were crazy going into the race; I realized how undermined that craziness was when we hit mile 11. That's when I said to Kristin, "I'm ready!" "Ready for what?" she asked. "To be done!!!" It was more of a mental test than a physical one--and one I'd unfortunately like to do again! How about a full marathon, you ask? Hell no. Thirteen point one miles is puh-lenty far. We did just better than our goal of 10 minute miles and crossed the finish line in 2 hours and 10 minutes.
The boys, our girls and Maddie were at the last 400 yards of the race cheering us on. Maddie made outfits for the girls--nothing could have inspired us more to kick it in as hard as we could for those last few strides. Thank you, fans!!!

This picture was taken by Maddie when we saw the girls in their supportive shirts. Yes, we are still smiling! Apparently the election is getting to my head--notice the goofball thumbs-up sign I'm giving!
Welcome to the World Baby Dempsey!
We went to visit the newest little river rat, Dempsey, who was born on October 12. What a cutie!

KishaAugust 16, 1995-October 14, 2008
Yesterday we laid our beautiful 13-year-old husky, Kisha, to rest. We are so thankful to have had such a fiery spirit among us. For those who knew Kisha, you understand that she often played by her own rules, and that is what made her so lovable. She made such an impression on every dog and human she met.
She will be remembered for her love of the outdoors, for being alpha queen at the dog park, for her incessant talking, and her sweet kisses to everyone, whether she knew
you or had just met you. She passed no judgement and expected to be loved for who she was. And she was.
you or had just met you. She passed no judgement and expected to be loved for who she was. And she was.She will be missed by so many, including her sisters Willow, Maryn and Shadow, her best friend Asia, her housemates (this list is quite endless, but most recently, Maddie and Michael), and most deeply by Dean and Marley, her loving "servants." Kisha was Dean's first true love; he spoiled her with endless nicknames, such as Fudd
Dog and Nudster Dudster. Marley is so thankful to have been able to spend 8 great years with such a beautiful being.
